The Story of a Feather.

Every feather has already lived an extraordinary life before it ever reaches my hand.

Long before it came to rest beside a creek or along a quiet trail, it belonged to something that knew how to fly.

Maybe it caught the first light of morning above the Appalachian hills. Maybe it drifted over winding creeks and hay fields. Maybe it rode a current of air so high that the world below disappeared for a while.

At some point, the bird no longer needed it.

The wind did.

And somehow, after traveling a path I’ll never know, it found its way to mine.

I don’t need to know whether that means anything.

I’m simply amazed that something which once helped carry a bird through the sky can end its journey in the palm of my hand.

To me, a feather isn’t proof of the extraordinary.

It is the extraordinary.

It’s a small reminder that this world is full of stories we’ll never completely understand—and somehow, every now and then, one of those stories lands quietly at our feet.
